Walt Disney

There are few people for whom it seems less worthwhile to write a brief career summary than Walter Elias Disney (1901-66), arguably the most famous name in cinematic history, ever.

Disney started out as a commercial illustrator; set up an animation studio with his brother Roy; created Mickey Mouse; made the first feature-length animation film (in three-strip Technicolor); expanded into live-action films; established theme parks; and left behind him a commercial giant bearing his name, which owns Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm, and most recently acquired Twentieth Century-Fox, once one of Hollywood’s giants.

And in 1934, Disney provided the voice of the aforementioned Mickey Mouse when he appeared in the MGM musical Hollywood Party.
