Ruth Harrison

Ruth Harrison (1912-74) was a dancer who, according to IMDb, appeared in MGM’s 1934 musical, Hollywood Party.

Harrison had made her debut on Broadway in 1925, aged thirteen, playing Fifine in The Bird Cage. She would go on to make a number of other Broadway appearances in the 1930s and 40s.

Harrison was best known, in those decades, as one half of Harrison and Fisher, a ballroom dance team in which she was partnered with her husband, Alex Fisher. They were well-known for introducing comedy into their dance routines, subverting their highly-skilled and elegant performances with comic mishaps. Fisher was also in Hollywood Party, but it is unclear whether they were married at that point.
