Red Berger

There are a number of mysteries surrounding the uncredited supporting cast of MGM’s Student Tour, and none greater than the claim that Red Berger (dates unknown) played the role of a mailman.

There was a Red Berger in the public eye at around that time. Joseph Charles Hervé Berger (1911-97), nicknamed Red, was a Canadian ice hockey player who participated in a joint USA-Canada team in exhibition matches at the 1932 Winter Olympics.

It is conceivable that this Red Berger spent time in Hollywood in 1934, and during that time appeared uncredited in three (or possibly four) MGM pictures. But there is no clear evidence that he did.

Until such evidence materializes, the true identity of Student Tour’s mailman must remain uncertain.
