Eddie Tamblyn

Edward Francis Tamblyn (1907?-57) started working in vaudeville aged 14, as part of Gus Edwards’s act. He was small, and youthful looking, so throughout the 1920s was cast younger than his age in Broadway shows and touring companies. He also spent time as part of a dance act.

Tamblyn got the lead in a Poverty Row short, College Cuties (1930), followed by a role in Columbia’s The Flood (1931). Thereafter, he took small, often uncredited, roles in around fifteen pictures, combined with stage work.

Eddie Tamblyn appeared in two Metro musicals, Hollywood Party and Broadway Melody of 1936.

He was the father of MGM musical star Russ Tamblyn.
