George Hale

George Hale (1900-56) worked as a tap dancer as a young man, performing on Broadway in the Shubert Gaieties of 1919 when just nineteen.

During the 1920s, Hale turned to directing and choreographing musicals, going on to work on the Gershwin shows Strike Up the Band (1930) and Girl Crazy (1931).

Hale did very little work for the screen, but one of his handful of credits was as one of the several dance directors who worked on MGM’s Hollywood Party.
