Maxine Doyle (1915-73) was a teenager singer in vaudeville and on radio when she secured the ingenue role in MGM’s Student Tour. In the same year, she appeared in Service with a Smile (1934), the first short film released in three-strip Technicolor.

Doyle spent most of her film career in Poverty Row, appearing in films such as Come on, Cowboys! (1937) and Fury Below (1938). She gave up acting after marrying producer William Witney in 1938, but returned for a few years in 1942, at her husband’s suggestion. Her final role was in Daughter of Don Q (1946).
