Maud Jeanne Olsen (1896-1943) was the first wife of comedian Jimmy Durante.
Olsen was a singer with some limited vaudeville experience when she met Durante in 1918. They married and, because he did not wish her to continue in show business, she devoted herself to looking after him. In 1931, she moved with him to Hollywood.
In 1932, Olsen made a brief, and self-conscious, appearance alongside Durante in one of Paramount’s Hollywood on Parade shorts, which also featured Rudy Vallee and Ted Healy and the Stooges.
Olsen’s only other screen appearance was in MGM’s Hollywood Party, playing Durante’s wife when he awakes from his dream.
