Henry Myers (1894-1975) was a playwright, composer and lyricist whose first play was produced by his friend Lorenz Hart in 1922.

In 1930, Myers was given a two-year contract by Paramount. His first produced screenplay, Her Wedding Night (1930) was also made by the studio in French, German, Spanish and Portuguese versions.

Myers wrote or contributed to about fifteen screenplays, the most well-known and successful of which was Destry Rides Again (1939), starring James Stewart and Marlene Dietrich.

Henry Myers was politically active and a founder member of the Screen Writers Guild. This led to his departure from Hollywood in 1947, when the House Un-American Activities Committee began the hearing that culminated in the imprisonment of the Hollywood Ten. He turned to producing historical novels and began the teaching of writing.

Myers’s sole contribution to MGM musicals was as a contributor to Hollywood Party.
