Eve Greene (1906-97) began her career at MGM as a secretary and worked her way up to become a screenwriter.

Greene worked with her friend Zelda Sears on the Marie Dressler-Polly Moran comedy Prosperity (1932), after which they wrote the hugely successful Tugboat Annie (1933).

Greene left MGM for Paramount, before working as an independent writer for hire. After Born to Kill in 1947, she moved into television, working steadily throughout the fifties.

While still at MGM, Eve Greene worked without credit on The Cat and the Fiddle.
