A Barr-Smith (1905-??) is a mysterious figure, to the extent that it seems impossible to identify positively his first name.
Born in Australia, he featured in MGM’s musical Student Tour in 1934, and a couple of years later wrote a British comedy, Well Done, Henry (1936).
Barr-Smith produced a few other pictures in the UK, and wrote, produced and directed The Hangman Waits (1947), a lurid story about a psychopath, made, aptly enough, for Butcher’s Film Service.
