Jamiel Hasson

Jamiel Hasson (1901-92) was a Syrian-born character actor active in Hollywood from 1929 playing a variety of ‘exotic’ nationalities.

Hasson made his debut in The One Woman Idea (1929), and by 1947 had appeared in thirty pictures. It is unclear what he did for the next 45 years.

In addition to MGM’s Student Tour, Hasson also worked on The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (1935), Gunga Din (1939) and Road to Morocco (1942). In Casablanca (1942), he was the muezzin calling people to prayer in one of the early scenes.
